Indeed, the Levi Strauss era were the greatest American uniforms. Even the Albertville and Lillehammer uniforms were much better than recent ones. (I wasn't crazy about the Calgary 1988 winter parade unis - they looked like warm-ups and podium suits.) The Albertville uniforms weren't as "American" because of concerns about terrorism following the first Gulf War, but Lillehammer were back to the more classic American styling of the Levi's days - although the 1994 uniforms were supplied by Champion.
Some elements of the Ralph Lauren uniforms are fine but they are over-the-top when they are put together in an ensemble, and they certainly aren't as classically American as the Levi's uniforms.
