Cracks in leather on first wear?

Just got a pair of B Store mario shoes in the mail, on first step the leather cracks majorly across the middle of the shoe. Is this normal? Intended? Or just cheap leather? It's a casual pair and due to the color (yellow beige) the cracks are not horrid or not in keeping with the rest of the shoe. I'm exchanging them for a smaller size in any case but should I have pre-treated these shoes in any way before wearing? I'm certain if these were sold in store they would never have kept their original smoothness after being tried on even just once.

Pictures please. There are cracks and there are creases. Creasing is normal, but cracks on the other hand mean you're screwed

All the long creases/cracks in front of the laces occurred after trying the shoes on.

those are creases, not cracks. leather seems really bad though for that to happen so fast.
