Is court dress still used in royal houses or was it replaced by white tie entirely?

At least in england, there is no formal dress code anymore. Court dress is certainly not required, and white tie for night and morning dress for day could be a good idea. I wouldn't feel too much pressure if you don't have easy access to it though, even royals don't dress that formally on a regular basis anymore. Unless you're at a formal reception of some sort, I would probably feel safe with a nice suit.

But then I'm a Yank, so whadda I know.

Your question does not compute. "Royal" houses don't use court dress unless the Queen is holding court there. Nor do denizens of Balmoral wear white tie, at least not during the day. Having said that, there still are uses for court dress at, well, court. But nowadays, the royal court consists entirely of stylized functions like investitures. And I don't believe it's required for all of those. Most people on the honors list aren't required to go out and get cocked hats, etc. I think most functions occur at Buckingham Palace though they might have a few in Scotland, too. Anyway, you can't get court dress today as it's is really hard to find OTR. But if you can wait a few months, Henry Poole can run you some up. http://www.henrypoole.com/court_dress.cns

Court dress is still required at Stately Squirrel Manor. While the Governor's mansion may not require it, our royalty does.
