Can anyone recommend a tailor in Columbus, Ohio?

I'm wondering this too. I know Godfry's has a tailor, but I don't know how they feel about bringing in a suit that wasn't purchased from their store. Especially if it's of cheaper quality.

I've also heard of "Boris the Tailor" on Bethel Ave. But I've never been there. Has anyone gone to either place, or know of another good tailor?

I go to Richard Bennett Clothiers which is in the Short North. It is pretty much on the intersection of N. High St. and Lincoln. Marc, who works there, has done a great job over the past month or so.

i hate going to get alterations done - no matter how specific you are, something bad always happens.

I just recently moved to Columbus (attending Moritz) and a friend who has lived here has recommended C. Stephano Clothing and Custom in Gahanna. His father had a few MTM shirts made there and they turned out well and so I plan on inquiring into a shirt as well. I just took 2 shirts and my new suit to Boris. His wife was working and fit me for alterations. She seemed very knowledgeable. They also do custom shirts and suits in a variety of fabrics.

Ill let ya know how my stuff turns out....

When I lived in Columbus, I went to Boris. I had quite a few shirts, pants, and also my tuxedo altered there. They did a great job every time.

How are Boris's prices? I just ended up taking my suit to a local tailor in Mansfield. I only needed basic things done. Took it today, I'll let you all know how it went.

I know I'm reviving an old thread but I didn't want to create redundancy. I just moved to Columbus and needed some work done and decided to check out Boris based on this thread. His wife fitted me and was the first alteratios tailor to speak with me assuming I knew something about clothes. Most tailors i've talked to have treated me like an idiot, especially when not asking for a puddle of trousers or sleeves to my knuckles...We were able to speak in terms that would be familiar here about leg opening widths, collar gap, sleeve pitch, what vent style was appropriate or not etc. Immediately felt my suit and said it was good to have a canvassed suit etc. We'll see how the alterations go but I feel good about it.

They also have a custom pattern making machine and don't do MTM but rather draft you a pattern from scratch and store it for future orders or slight changes. The shirts are made on site and although I didn't look closely I do know they stock holland and sherry fabric at least and will do cmt. Minimum order of 3 shirts starting at $85 per depending on fabric. I may try them next time depending on how the alterations turn out

The only caveat is that theyre expensive. I needed one pair of trousers tapered and let down slightly to be 1" break and that was $30, and she explained to me that she wasn't charging for the lengthening. Although it may have been different if I was on a timetable, she set a date 2+ weeks from now so speedy might not be their thing. All I'm very impressed and if the alterations are what I saw today I will be going back as long as I live in Columbus.
