Change of careers/town Gov to Tech new wardrobe

Hi - Looking for some advice and suggestions of what to wear. I just moved from a government town - dress/blue suit etc to Austin working in tech. I am trying to recalibrate my wardrobe to these standards:

1. look good
2. walk the line of nice but casual and not sloppy (see a lot of sloppy at work)
3. what kind of shirts to wear (right now my wardrobe is collared shirts, polos, and t-shirts I wouldn't want to wear to work)
4. it gets really hot here so light jeans other suggestions of pants

What Brooks Brothers deems "sport shirts" should be fine, except for the solid light blue ones, which likely look too much like traditional dress shirts (which can look problematic without a jacket). Polo shirts might be okay, depending on factors such as fit and physique. A shirt that has horizontal stripes and looks professional is a white elephant. Very fitted probably would be perceived as going-out shirting.

Washable chinos probably should be the main type of pants. Poplin and linen-blend versions are more summery than other versions. Black pants are judged negatively by some. No polyester, comfort waist, or other low-end details. A moderately dressy belt adds professionalism.

It's hard to give more specific recommendations without background information such as budget and fit and a look at items in the wardrobe.
