I've been hearing the following more and more with young professionals.

"I have a buddy that..." <insert where they work or stupid story>

Stop calling them buddies. Just say friend. It annoys the crap out of me. I hear it 20x a day. Plus generally the people who say it are douchebags.

I reserve "friend" for only a select few people in my life.
The rest get buddy, pal, acquaintance, etc.

Ugh, but why buddy! I can't hear someone say that without imagining the buddy as a vapid, fratty moron who wears BB shirts and enjoys discussing finance.
