Hello again gentlemen. My first time out on this forum I got completely torn apart, and thankfully, built back up again with your help. So here I am again (hopefully not to get beat up too badly again).

My girlfriend is going to nursing school and they are having their annual Christmas party. It's going to be held at a local hotel; sit down dinner, cash bar. She tells me they said it is casual, but no jeans. I'm taking that as business casual, maybe I'm wrong. She will be wearing dress slacks with a sweater and I would assume the other girls/women would be clad similarly. Jeans to me are obviously casual, I don't like khakis, and sweaters give me heat exhaustion so, I planned on wearing one of my suits with a dress shirt and no tie. I figured a white shirt and have included pictures of my two suits. I threw in the pocket squares, whether right or wrong, I'm not sure. Maybe a colored shirt?

I would certainly appreciate help/suggestions. Thanks guys...

The lighter suit would do. No tie and NO white shirt - you could probably get away without a jacket so just keep this ensemble strictly informal.

Understood and I may go without the jacket. Any suggestions for a shirt color/pattern? Ditch the PS if I stick with jacket?
