Closest they came was building the new fiat 124 on the MX5 platform, but even that wasn’t deemed good enough for a new Alfa spider. Nope, not Mazda either.

I don’t see anything Nissan could add to Alfa Romeo, besides how to actually construct a car. Alfa just knows how to put emotion in both the styling, driving characteristics and engine feel. They just don’t know how to put it together without it breaking apart in a year or two.

A friend who has a very nice collection of Porsches -930 Turbo, 993 Turbo S, '74 MFI 911 Carrera, 911 T restomod to RS specs, a 991 GT3.2, 991 Speedster, GT4 track car, Taycan Turbo S - has a vintage Alfa like that which was a track car, and he loves it.

German cars feel more robust and are generally better engineered, but Italian cars can be very entertaining.

That looks worth every dollar.

I mean, A bone stock ae86 Corolla with a respray is going to cost you around $25,000. no upgrades, no rebuilds, just a respray.
Then you'd have to burn money to get the car as fresh as the paint.
And i think you'd sail past the current cost of that Alfa at $62,000 to be built to a similar level.

It's a good deal if you have deep enough pockets.
=Rowdy at the speed limit.
Which is what we want, right? in a sporting car.

Wife is no longer commuting daily (obviously) so no real need for the former fun commute car, an S5 Convertible. Wants a bike rack and to be able to put the new dog in the back. So SUV or wagon. No douchemobiles, as likely moving to the earlier-stage startup space where ostentation is generally frowned on. Thinking A6 Allroad, which is pretty decent looking if you pay an extra grand for the full paint finish -- which deletes the ****** body cladding.

I like a wagon more than an SUV, but there’s good options for both.

Tell her that the dog doesn’t like long car rides and you need an E63 wagon or RS6 so you can get wherever you need to as fast as possible. And de-badge them and tell everyone it’s a base model.
