is there "cheap" V12 other than big sedan though?

edit: ok SL65 and S65 coupe from last gen I guess...

Old 2003/04 AM Vanquish is around $60-75K. Although, the few people I know that have owned pre-owned Astons had lots of problems and so cheap ones don't end up being cheap.

******* California going their own way again.

we had this V12 conversation a few times already...may I reiterate my position that the Ferrari 550/575 is the sweet spot of semi-affordable V12’s that are actually any good...

At a lower price point there’s the 850i but y’all thought I was stupid for bringing it up

Sorry but the 850 sucks! It was a novel departure from more classic BMW styling when it was new, but its as dated as the same time frame R129 500SL...and both are maintenance pigs. I said it earlier this week or last, you couldn't give an 850 to some of my friends who are long time devout BMW owners. They constantly say they are plagued with problems that no one can fix and they wouldn't take one if it was given to them for free.

"cheap", and I mean new cars

I can't think of a "Cheap new V12."

I think "Cheap V12" is an oxymoron. The only cheap ones are old, and they will generally punish the owners to the point where the cheap purchase price is quickly forgotten once one is dealing with a growing stack of maintenance bills that are always 4 to 5 figures.

Cheap V12s -Jaguar XJS, Ferrari 400i/412i, Ferrari 456GT, R129 MB 600SL, BMW 850i, Bentley Continental GT...

All are relatively affordable with the XJS being the cheapest...but its like a list of who's who when it comes to cars that are known for being very costly to maintain...and that's if one can keep some of them like the XJS and 850 running on a somewhat regular basis.

As for the Governor of California and his anti ICE sentiment I think he deserves an autographed version of this meme...

Just think how much classic ICE sports cars are going to appreciate! 2035 cutoff is only for new vehicles. I always figured my non-electric days were numbered anyway -- teenage daughter was head of the "Green Team" at her last school and is already on my case about the AMG.

how old would you be when 2035 hits? Feels like all these car boom follows somewhat whatever the teenage car you fancy at the time (like if I had the mean to get a McLaren F1 I would, and I know the generation after me wouldn't even care)

No one will remember Gavin Newsom in 2035. Maybe this will all just go away somehow before then. I’m actually not sure how this can be implemented. Is CA going to require the buildup of the necessary infrastructure for EV’s? Is there some way they can compel automakers to offer EV at every price point? When i lived in CA i couldn’t afford a $15k car at one point. How do you treat out of state purchases and immigration?

Btw those are all rhetorical questions. I already know Gov. Newsom’s answer is “i have no ******* idea”. I had to deal with CCPA (CA consumer privacy act) implementation and no one from executive, legislative and enforcement branches of CA government had any answers for any questions we had on what they meant with the provisions of the very act that they drafted.

Actually, no - I’m wrong. They had an answer. The answer was “i have no ******* idea but you still have to comply by next year. Even if i can’t tell you what “compliance” actually looks like.”

In 2035 I'll be in an EV or possibly propane. Depends where golf cart technology is at by then.

So basically typical government. This is pretty much what happens every time CMS rolls out ****.

Meanwhile in semi rural PA, I’m hoping to finally be able to afford (and afford to run) a f355 berlinetta by 2035...
