Does anyone have experience with the Noir patina vs. black? I'm considering the wholecut MTO over on Skoak, but only black noir is available. As I'd like to occasionally be able to dress these up for black tie, I'm not sure Noir will work.

I don't think you want Noir then. Black is black, noir is something else floating towards grey.

The Noir shadow is almost black with some lighter variances in it, whereas the Black is completely solid black.

I appreciate the help. I assume I'd still get something short of true black with a few layers of black polish? I'm quite fond of the idea of a wholecut on the 389 and I haven't seen this offered anywhere else, so I'm trying to talk myself into the Noir working. Probably best to pass, but it can't hurt to ask.

I ended up buying these instead:

I hadn't seen them before but came across them as I was looking for the wholecuts on the 389 last. I found them from a Swiss site (http://www.shoes-pasbanal.com/shop_detail_en.php?id_produit=2254) on sale for a little over $200 US. The skin stitching on the vamp is an interesting detail--I wasn't sure if I was going to like it but it's fairly subtle and adds a nice touch. Anyway, I'm pretty excited about getting these for that price.

^ Very nice...I see they have the 8866 jumper in black on sale, but unfortunately not my size. I just missed them at Cavour for 134 Euros. If anyone has another lead on those jumpers (esp in brown) please let me know. Smart looking, lace up, GYW, commando sole, and reasonably priced. That is the recipe I need!

How do people care for their patina shoes? I have read that using Saphir Ren will hurt the hand colored patina.

If you have none and are in the US Sacks off Fifth has a few good models at the best price you are going to find and runs them on sale often for 20% off. Free shipping most of the time also...

Do you have any idea what last the three eyelet derby is in?
Thanks!

I spoke too soon. Just got an email saying the navy derby sold out before my purchase was processed. Oh well...

Anyone thinks these 3 eyelet derby too pointy?
Or they are supposed to look that long and pointy considered it's only 3 eyelet?
