Good quality polo that lasts?

Hi all,

I’m in search of a good quality polo that won’t entirely break the bank. I’m 6’ 3” and very skinny, so I’m looking for something that is slim fitting. My only other requirement is that it has no visible branding on the body. I don’t like the look of that at all.

I know Sunspel makes some good brand less polos, but their prices are a bit much for me right now. Seeing as I have to wear these a lot for work, they’ll get washed and line dried often, so I want something that won’t fade as much and lose it’s shape, which Sunspel’s seem to do.

I looked at Kent Wang polos, which I have a few of and love, but they’re all sold out until September and I want to find a brand that is a little more reliable in their inventory.

Any suggestions are appreciated. The more color options, the better, too.

Also, how do you care for your polos? Is washing them in cold water on gentle and then line drying going to be enough to prevent fading? Do you wash yours after every wear?

I've had polo shirts from Banana Republic, Uniqlo, and Land's End that have all held up well over the years to countless launderings. No visible logos. Now I prefer polos with a ribbed or banded bottom, which looks better worn untucked (enhances the V torso silhouette). I also like the retro styling to those.

I wash polos after each wear, as they come into direct contact with my armpits. I just wash them on a regular tap cold cycle and low heat tumble dry. I'm not interested in the drudgery of hand-washing or line-drying (I live in a city apartment) casual clothing that doesn't explicitly call for it (and when it does, I don't buy it). I fold them like t-shirts and keep them in a drawer, then give them a quick steam to remove the wrinkles before putting them on.

The best polo shirts that lasted me the longest, other than kent wang shirts, are Brooks Brothers Pima shirts. If you find them with the collar being the same fabric weave as the main body you are golden. Polos with a mesh collar tend to have a more deformed collar over the years. I will say avoid jersey knit because the fabric type is a lot less durable. The major issue with BB is that their shirts of the same line always change when it comes to quality so you need to get lucky with BB. I did hear many good things about Huckberry though!

Vince has some nice ones, not much cheaper than Sunspel but Ssense has some really good sales on them.
