I don't know if I'm part of the consensus, but I've come to the view that PRL's D-width English shoes are English Ds, not English Es. Same for Ben silver, FWIW.

^^ These are my one and only pair of English shoes so I can't disagree with you.

I'm a 10 in Alden on the Hampton last, and a 9.5 in C&J on the 236 last.

348 in size UK 8 E is way too long and pointy for me, as I'm a short guy, yet it is a good fit in all dimensions. I've tested 348 in size 7.5 but that was too narrow and I just couldn't wear them at all. Recently I found a rare pair made on 348 G width in size 7.5. They don't look as pointy and are obviously not as long and they even might fit me ok. I am not able to try them on, but I am seriously thinking about buying them anyway. However, the sizing is still an issue. What do you think, should I go for them or are they really too small for me given that size 8 E is a good fit?

I hope I made my point clear as a non-English speaker.

I actually go half-a-size down in the 348 last because, as you say, it is quite long with a chiselled toe - I usually take a UK9 but wear a UK8.5 in the 348 last.

The G fitting is quite a bit wider than the E fitting so whilst I don't think that you would have any problems with the length, there is a chance that you might end up with a bit too much space around the rest of your foot. However, if you find that the UK7.5 is too narrow for you but that the length is right, the G-width might work well for you.

Does anyone have insight into the Chiltern chukka on last 224? I wear the Cavendish in 7.5 E, albeit usually sockless, and find it well-fitting. It seems 325 generally fits me well in that size/fitting. Thoughts?
