I'm interested in compiling a list of shirt makers who offer button-down collars with a 3d button in the rear. I personally like the look.

I know Thom Browne and Gitman do this. Any others I'm not aware of?

Wow, that is very old-school traditional. I recall seeing them on OCBD's in the late 60's back in preppyville where I grew up. It is an interesting detail but a pain if you are wearing a tie. No idea who makes them now.

J.Press did until a few years ago, but call first to see if they still do (and on which models).

Just as a point of interest,
here is an interesting link for the history of the 3rd button idea.
Once uppon a time,
it actually served a purpose.
Detachable collars made of celluloid (paper related) were fastened to the
shirt with studs.

If SATOR sees this thread,
he can give you the full story I am sure.

I recently bought a Tommy Hilfiger OCBD with the 3rd button that I'm planning on wearing with a bow tie. I've never had a button in the back but I'm planning on threading the tie through and buttoning it before i put it on to make it easier.

Why can't this be done to any shirt after-market?

I mostly only wear buttondowns with the 3rd collar button, it's one of those dealmaker/breaker details for me, along with the sewn down full boxpleat

the obvious culprits are Ben Sherman and Fred Perry (modeled after late 50s/early 60s Brooks Bros)

other brands I know that have or have done this detail:
DNA Groove
Jump the Gun
Trim Fit
Paul Smith
Aertex
RL
Thom Browne
Nordstrom house brand

My Jantzen buttondowns all have the 3rd neck button

Hilfiger shirts from like 15 years ago had them in their "luxury" line with nice fabrics and no logo.
