Brush to clean suit

What kind of brush does everyone use on their suits???? Just curious.

A brush can't clean a suit. I have the 3-in-1 brush from The Container Store but mostly use it's shoe horn. Since I wear super twist wools, a brush would do more damage than help.

Just Google "garment brush" & make an informed decision.

I use an adhesive roller where you just run the rollers down the suit and it sticks off the dirt.

What would you use to clean something like chalk dust off a suit? I use a lint roller to clean lint and crap off my suit as well, but recently I got a bunch of chalk dust on my jacket when I accidentally backed up into a chalk board, and the lint roller wasn't able to pick up any of the fine dust. I ended up just using a moist paper towel and rubbing it off; would a suit brush have taken care of that problem? Or is just sticking with the wet paper towels good enough?

Yes, a suit brush would be ideal for that. I would worry that a wet paper towel just grinds dirt into the fabric and it is best to keep wool dry.

One of the best minor maintenance things that you can do is give your suit a good once over with a brush at the end of the day. I don't know that it's necessarily meant to clean a suit, per se, but rather to keep the suit from having to be cleaned so often. Brush it down well with a good quality garment brush and let it hang for a few hours to breathe. It may not look dirty, but dust, pollen and other particles will have settled on the cloth. And if you don't shake them out they'll go deeper into fiber and you'll ingrain dirt into the fabric each time it's worn.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. Thanks for the tip, definitely looking into suit brushes more. I found these over at Kent's eBay store, then found this thread (http://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/f...d.php?t=51911), where someone says he asked Kent and found that it's not a CC20 but a C6 with another brush on the other side. Anyone have any opinions/experience with this?

This is going to sound ridiculous, but I just brush my suits with an unused, soft-bristle toothbrush.. I've been using it for months now and have had no problems.. I suppose it doesn't uphold the fabric like a high-end brush might, but it cleans the superficial dirt off fairly well.

If it works, go for it. I have a stable of Kent brushes. One for home, one for the office, and a Kent travel brush for . . . well, traveling.
