Braces/Suspenders Recommendations?

Have some good ol' Albert Thurstons, which I really like and have been wearing for some time, however, the width of 35-40mm is just a bit too wide for my frame. Whenever I wear a waistcoat of any kind the fabric of the braces will poke out near the narrower point of the armhole. I'm also a short man around 5'7'', so whenever I get new Thurston multifits I have to shorten them, otherwise the metal buckle would need to be raised all the way up to my shoulders.

Does anybody know any traditionally styled button braces (made of decent fabrics) that are a bit narrower (20-25mm range), and comes in smaller sizes?

It seems that the buttons in your waist band are in the wrong position. I'd suggest to have them placed somewhere more centered. Also AT does have narrow braces, see here:

Thanks for bringing these to my attention! The braces on AT's website are 95% in the 35-40mm range, so I never bothered to consider that they even had 25mm. Hmm I actually never questioned the button waistband position. This may also be the cause of my waist giving makers so little room to work with, but that's really good to know. I'll try these narrower AT braces and see if the problem persists, if so then I might resew the buttons.

Braces begin and end with Albert Thurston. They do custom, all you have to do is enquire.

I second the Albert Thurston recommendation. I have a navy pair which are around 15 years old and still look great.

The only other braces I have tried are from Sera fine silk and one set of them has broken after only moderate use. I may have been unlucky though as my other pairs are holding up and they have some nice designs.
