I have been to raffles before. 95% of what I get comes directly off the shelf from local shops. Makes me feel very fortunate. That is why I am always stocking up for the rainy day when I don't live around here anymore...

I just hope crazy allocations like this don't happen in other spirits (tequila/scotch/etc)

I have not. My list of things to try sure is growing though. Probably Pasote blanco next

Haven’t tried side by side with Old Fitzgerald BiB but would be interesting given both are HH 100 proof. By memory, the front end of palate is pretty similar, but nose and finish are deeper / better on the OF (slight astringency on the EW). I guess that’s expected given the ~10x price difference

I bought a high proof barrel pick of OF last year from McScrooge's in Knoxville, TN. Was one of the 3 best barrel picks I've ever had, ever. Wish I could find something like it again. Was north of 130 proof but drank like 100, except with the depth you'd expect from a high proof whiskey
