I thought about a bottle but discarded that. I mean, we've shared with each other bottles of both spirits and wine worth a lot of money. Also, a bottle eventually is drained. He has an M.A. in English, has written a few books, and is also into photography. For instance, he took and edited these pics at my house:

If willing to divert from a book about scotch/bourbon, “Earth is my Witness” blis a photo anthology by Art Wolfe, one of my favorite photographers. Don’t recall the cost but very likely under $300. Mostly nature/culture subject matter.

There will be a party in November for my close friend that is more than a couple decades older than me. This is the guy with tens of thousands invested in his Scotch and Bourbon collection that has explicitly left it to me in his will. Still never spoken to his son, ten years younger than me, on how he feels about that.

Anyway, part of his gift from me at this party will be a coffee table book on either Scotch or Bourbon. For this part of his gift not looking to spend more than about $300. Looking for suggestions.

Nice to be back in Tennessee for the week. Really hits home what a goddamned wasteland Texas is for good whiskey. Picked this up. Barrel pick. One of the better bourbons I’ve had in months if not years. Will load up before I head home.

Picked up a bottle of this Buffalo Trace Barrel pick from one of my old haunts in Tennessee today. Hand picked by BT Master Distiller in honor of BT long relationship with this particular

store. Man it is an amazing bourbon. Wishing I’d bought 2 or 3
