I heard they are going to open a "by appointment" store and showroom in Boston.

Lewis one of the owners lives in Boston and runs things from there probably one of the main reasons he wants the showroom there. Agree though NY would be a good option.

I will be at the Bontoni trunk show next week in Seattle and will ask him for more details.

Hello Man of Lint,

Surely with your imaginative name you, and only you, would be familiar with the cursive writing found inside a pair of Bontoni shoes.

I recently purchased a pair of supposedly Bontoni shoes from a fellow in Australia who in turn secured them from an estate sale.

Neither he nor I am sure if they are Bontonis. Notwithstanding that, they look and feel like no other shoe that I've ever owned - pure sliken(ly) smooth in both appearance and fit. I am so enamored with them that I just have to pin down the artisan who created them.

Any photos of signatures/writing inside of Italian shoes that you're familiar with? The writing is just like the writing you'd find in a signed pair of Lattanzis.

Many thanks for reading this Oh Man of Lint.

All the best,

Mike

That Fatto a Mano type writing looks similar in most Italian shoes of that type like they all went to the same school IMO eg Harris, Santoni,Bontoni,

I have been looking for a pair of brown loafers and just bought a beautiful pair of Bontoni Principe in size 11. AE loafers fit in 11 and C&J Sydney fit well in 10, so I had high hopes for these. They feel a bit tight though, especially near my last (little) toe. Do Bontoni usually fit a little small? The last is beautiful, but perhaps doesn't fit my foot right. Are these likely to loosen up a bit if I keep them? They're amazing and I'm trying to convince myself to keep them, but not if they'll always hurt to wear.

mine are always a bit tight when I first get them but the leather conforms like a glove to your foot. Wear them around the house with thick socks for a couple hours and see how they feel. I usually get mine stretched out just a bit to be extremely comfortable. But definitely would want to see pics of the shoes on your feet.

Thanks for the replies! I didn't realize a photo would be helpful or else I would have posted one to start, but here's a photo now. The leather on these is quite strong and thick. I'm not sure if that's the nature of the shoes, or if they've just been sitting unworn for a while and could use a little conditioner even regardless of being a tad too small. They came with custom trees. I suppose I could condition them, put in normal trees, and just start wearing them and hope for the best. Does that seem reasonable?
