Just bought some black linen pants for the Summer. Also just realized that I don't have any shoes to go with them. (Geez, I sound like my wife.) Any suggestions on shoes for these pants?

Funnily enough I did the same yesterday but chose to go for a linen and silk combination basically because all linen gets the sack look after about ten minutes of wearing particularly if it's humid. Some people don't mind that, it comes down to personal taste I suppose. Anyway on the issue of shoes it is a bit of a dilemma. Black Tod style driving shoes? I'd be interested to hear the suggestions particularly in the context of wearing the pants with a jacket in a semi formal setting (eg. white wine sipping at a gallery opening - oh the elitism of it).

If you're into bold styles - black/white spectators. Otherwise, black loafers of some description might be nice. A rich dark brown might work too. If they're the more casual/beach style of linen trousers rather than the dressy kind, flip-flops will be fine.

I must admit, I struggle a bit with the concept of black linen, regardless of how traditional/common it may be.

Black white spectators would look great. Not thought of that. Black loafers or Tods was what I had in mind. I tried the rich dark brown, it just about works but only just. How about a subtle dark red, or even bright red, suede Tod or is that too off the wall. To be honest I struggle with black linen too, in fact black pants of all sorts, but my wife thought it was a good idea. Not too keen on blue pants either. They seem to have "official" overtones (prison warder, police, garbage pick up).

Any other ideas for shoes with black linen pants? I wonder if brown sandals would work in this case. I have some linen pants with thin white pinstripes and basically am too afraid to wear them!
