Best valued ties in the 30-50$ range?

I'm currently looking for a bunch of beater ties, that hopefully look decent and are somewhat durable. Which brands and where to buy?

If you're close to a century 21, look there. They have a ton of high-end ties in the $30-$50 range (e.g. RL Polo, Battistoni, etc...)

$15 each. It will let you try stuff out and if these are beaters, they will be fine. I've spent more on ties, and with rare occasion, I'm just as happy with the cheaper stuff.

Do you have outlet stores near you? I regularly find Drakes ties at the upper end of that range. Just paid $43 for a 100% cashmere Drakes a couple of weeks ago at Neiman Marcus last call.

I would advise against the "bunch of beater ties" strategy, and instead opt for fewer but better. Ties shouldn't take much of a beating, anyhow. Not sure what you're planning to put them through if indeed that's the case.

I'll second what Quadcammer said, though. If you really just need a handful of ties you don't need to baby or give much of a **** about, just go with The Tie Bar. No sense in spending even $30-50 apiece for ties you're going to neglect, when Tie Bar ties are pretty decent and a fraction of that price. (In fact, Tie Bar ties are easily on par with, if not of higher quality than, most brands that go for full retail in the $30-50 range).

Those ties from the tie bar look decent. Anyone know what their thickness is like?

My only problem with the local "low-end" silk ties is that they're usually very thick, and create some pretty ugly tie knots...hard to get a good looking dimple too.

Tie Bar ties tend to be on the thick side. Not overly thick, like the kind of $5 ties you can get at a bodega on any old street corner. But thick, and heavily lined.

Honestly, I'd caution you once again against getting a bunch of beater ties. I pursued a similar strategy when I was getting started. I ended up with a rack full of 30 or so mediocre ties, and a lot of buyer's remorse. For the same investment, I could have gotten 10 really nice ties. I understand the beater strategy, to some extent, when it comes to almost any other article of clothing: shoes, socks, shirts, etc. But ties aren't meant to get roughed up, and unless you're eating lobster bisque or heavily sauced pasta every day with your tie hanging out, I don't see how they'll come into a great deal of danger or wear & tear. Ties tend to travel well, too, provided you store them properly in transit.
