Styleforum.com.

You'll do better here on the B&S forum than most anywhere else online. For example, your 50 bucks could get you several smokin' ties from our friend idfnl ^^^ without ever leaving the house.

If you know what you're looking for and have the time & patience, thrift shops are another excellent source.

You should never EVER buy ties at retail price, unless it's because something caught your eye that you absolutely love and must own.

Hunt around on eBay, StyleForum Buy&Sell, and discount stores like Off 5th Ave. You can find crazy deals with ease.

I've got a full tie rack (capacity 36, not that it matters) and I don't think I bought a single one of them at retail price except the Haggar and Hilfiger ties I wore to my high school proms and never threw away. The rest I bought on eBay, and most of them cost me less than the $59.99+tax or whatever it was I spent on the Haggar/Tommy ties -- except they are much nicer ties, including Gucci, Fendi, Brioni, Etro, etc.

Shop sales at regular brick and mortar stores as well. I have a lot of Ralph Lauren ties, for example, but I don't think I paid more than a fraction of the $100 - $125 that they ask for at full retail for any of them. They can almost always be had for half price and if you wait and are patient, it'll usually go to 70% off. That said, if you see a tie that is just perfect and you really want it, just buy the thing a full retail. That is what you are saving up for by buying everything else at deep discounts.

Not all of them are, but truthfully, it would be nice if when I clicked on the "HI-END TIES" link, I didn't get a list of a thousand ties that included Nautica, Stafford and Gap. I guess that's what idfnl's sig line about swimming through **** refers to. Or, my definition of high-end is really out of whack.

Ha ha, oops, sorry. Something happened to the ebay link structure. I've corrected it so it displays the way it was originally setup.

Anyway, much of the high end stuff sold b/c of xmas, so I have some replenishing to do.
