For easy-to-find, relatively inexpensive design books, check out the publisher Taschen.

There is no best, what do you want to do with the books? How about merely checking out work by people you like and buying related books?

Say you like Le Corbusier then get the ******* Le Corbusier book, this one:

Basically tell us who you like and I'm sure people will start naming books.

I think you would appreciate Guy Bourdin:

Phaidon and Taschen have a ton of great overview books that can be found for decent prices online.
