A bit of a plug for Benson & Clegg. They offer a custom/bespoke design service--silk repp. Two ties is the minimum if one chooses to go with a shape that is basically identical to all other Benson & Clegg ties (3 3/4 " blade). Four ties is the minimum if one requests a particular shape, length, blade width, etc. I can't be sure, but I think they work mostly with Stephen Walters silk. White warp is an option, although, as you might guess, black warp is more common. The customer chooses the colors and design/colorway, and sample swatches are made initially.

What is the construction like? What are the interlinings?

Weaving silk just for a couple of ties does seem like a great service though, how much does it cost?

The quality of the construction is superb, but, as with anything, it's in the eye of the beholder. I confess a longstanding ignorance about the more subtle details of neckwear construction.

Good question about the interlining. I am guessing there are options. I feel sure Mr. Austin at Benson & Clegg would be happy to respond to questions.

It may be that the cost has changed, but, best I recall, it was approximately £47.50 per tie for four ties, and two or three ties for £68 per tie.

Also, not much of a wait. The turnaround on the sample was a few weeks, and an additional few weeks to make the tie after the sample was approved.

And they offer some of the best blazer buttons to be had. Very nice people to deal with in my experience.

I like the ties, though let's be honest, they are cheap. Cheap in that you get what you pay for, which is a repp with no great qualities. But plenty good enough.
