), but possibly heted/frothed codensed milk(again, ?

). A little sweeter than I prefer, but quite tasty (I added no sugar). Queried barista, but answer was semi-incomprehensible...

In English, latte usually refers to espresso and milk. Notice he didn't say latte spagnolo.

Condensed milk is indeed often used to cream coffee in Europe, but I have no idea what a "Spanish latte" is. I actually find that condensed milk taste rather awful, but to each his/her own. Condensed milk does also contain sugar, so it is a likely ingredient in whatever concoction you had, given that it was sweet without you adding sweeteners.

My guess is that we shortened the Italian "caffè latte" simply to "latte", which has become an English word with its own meaning.

By the way, for what it's worth, I still like Starbucks iced coffee better than any of the competitors. Everything else just tastes like crap.

How did you manage to cut it out? Did you cut it out gradually, or at once and suffered the headaches?

I don't drink much caffeine. If I'm working, a small black coffee in the morning and usually a Diet Coke with lunch. And then I'm fine for the rest of the day.
