Beatle boots, what to wear with?

I recently purchased a pair of Beatle boots (if you don't know what they are, you can easily find info online. wikipedia, etc...). They're ankle height, with a center-seam down the length, and approximately 1.5 inch heels. Now I'm quite a fan of Pete Doherty's style, and I've noticed him wearing them with jeans quite a bit. Problem is, when i do, I kind of look like a cowboy. It's not like I'm wearing looser-fitting jeans. They definitely qualify as drainpipes. I've tried them with black cords (though again, drainpipe jeans), and dark charcoal twill pants (pipes)
So my question is, what the hell do I wear these with to make them not so goofy.

Try posting a pic - what you describe sounds like the trad match for winklepicker-style boot. Maybe you need a flatter heel or maybe you have a cuban heel now? Maybe try a chisel toe in a Chelsea boot?

Yeh, the Cuban heel is probably what is making them seem too cowboy for you.

Nice boots, though. Maybe try looking at some vintage Rolling Stones pics - they wore that style boot a lot.

I think you are going to need the whole head to toe rocker vibe to pull those off. Also, maybe an appropriate blazer or something to dress it up a bit.

With a Nehru collar! Paisley shirt too?

Seriously, the boots are kinda out there for most people - but it's a classic look that I like and (sorta) wore for a while when I was much younger. I'm suer you'll find gazillions of cool early-mid 1960s band pics with guys rockin' their boots.

Flares might be what makes you look cowboy. Try something slim and straight or slightly tapered rather than bootcut, perhaps?

milosz:
I've only worn them with drainpipe jeans and pants, nothing bootcut or baggy in the least

remy185:
No, they were mail ordered (to PA) from a guitar shop in florida called "guitar den", I believe it was?

I've actually been interested in a pair of boots like this because I think they look awesome (especially with the big heels) although I don't think the style I'm heading towards caters to it and I do not have the money to lose on a bad custom order and have never seen them in stores.

Well the Fab Four used to wear them with light grey or black suits, as well as with jeans.
It's a self-confidence thing mate.

to be brutally honest, if you feel like a twat wearing them, then you'll probably look like a twat wearing them. Sorry, but that's how it is with clothing really. If you don't feel comfortable in something then you won't look ditto!
