Finding the good sales in town I can figure out more easily: asking good questions and befriend with sales staff. (Having smaller sizes which less people will buy also helps finding interesting items at sale price. Being on the side of the Bell curve - I don't know, don't shops buy inventory according to the Bell curve?). However I am not living around one of the wold's fashion capital; so online shopping would be a great addition to me.
The big question is how to beat the online sales game?
One neat option, my guess is to buy from "Internet brands" such as Gustin Jeans and National Standard sneakers which instead of spending on advertising spend on quality materials. Probably a list of brands with such business models exist somewhere here?
The other option is to find designer items at ~50% off. That is my ballpark number that makes a purchase justified compared to their usual retail prices. The 50% off can be 40%-60 or even 70% off (though the latter unlikely), but when the sale is only 30% off I am waiting. I can do it offline but what's a good strategy to do it online?
If I am correct signing up to those invite only closed "invite only" (LOL) sites is not the solution - as they usually sell stuff no one really wanted to buy in the first place. So my hunch says signing up to some deal alerts would be a better option. There is already an Official Sales Alert thread here and I have not read all of it but that might not be all I need. Different taste and interests, the other side of the Atlantic (btw. are there more North Americans or Europeans here?).
Perhaps there is also a thread like this I just haven't noticed? Apologies for the duplicate.
