BB Peal & Co lightweight penny loafer

Any idea on whether these are made by AS or C&J? Judging from pics they look quite similar to the C&J Sydney:

I am not sure but I seem to remember that the "lightweight" shoes were neither C&J nor AS. I am 99.9% sure they are not the Sydney.

I used to be a Shoe Specialist for Brooks. Those are C&J if they're the ones I'm thinking of. Very few shoes are made by AS. They're usually used for overflow. Distinctive double rows of nails on the heel are the sign of AS. Also, the PEAL&CO stamp looks different on them; much rougher, although I've never bothered to figure out why.

With the current generation of "lightweight" shoes, I believe Loake is a potential option as well. I don't know about that particular pair.

From what I've read here on SF and elsewhere, a large share of the non-lightweight Peal & Co's are or where made by C&J, though the last on the lightweight loafers looked similar to the C&J Sydneys. Anyways, I ordered them while they're still on sale, and once I receive them I'll post pics to see if anyone can identify the maker.

The Peal's I ordered are on back order and the expected shipping date is mid March

OP or anyone else, how do these run? True to size? I ordered a pair last weekend and wondering if I'm going to have to send them back. I wear a UK 9 in Loakes.

Well I FINALLY received the shoes

While they retail for $468 on the Brooks Bros website, they are the Loake Fenchurch model, which you can buy directly from the maker for £180.00 < $300. I got them on sale and with gift cards bought from SF at a discount so it came out about the same. While I like them a lot, the model pictured in the Brooks site is not the same as the shoe, the most evident differences being the length of the "tongue" (don't know what that would be called in a loafer) and the seam running alongside the inside part of the uppers below the "bridge" (again I'm at loss for words with loafer terminology). Overall they look pretty nice and the leather doesn't seem to be bad quality like that attributed to some Loake's I've read in reviews here, but knowing the retail price is way above the maker's and the same as higher quality producers like AS or C&J does leave a bad taste in one's mouth

I got them in brown and black; returned the black ones. They definitely are nice, but I realized the Loake Fenchurch comparison as well and figured I could get the black ones for much cheaper. The browns were pretty heavily discounted after some gift card exchanges + BB card kind of like what you did, otherwise I would return them too.

They are nice though for normal office wear.

I got them in my usual shoe size (8d) and they actually felt uncomfortably tight around the instep, to the point where I took them off at the office for a couple of hours. Went out for drinks after that and after walking around for a bit they have broken in quite nicely. Oh and also they are noticeably lighter IRL than whay they appear on the BB site; I've found this to be true for other brown shoes sold by BB I've seen in-store

This is a common style so just because they look similar doesn't mean they're from the same co. Shoes are just made in factories according to the buyer's specifications and a brand name is stamped on them. If some Peal are indeed made by C&J then it's better to buy the Peal because it's a couple of hundred cheaper and they come in widths from B-E for the US market instead of 1 or perhap 2 at most widths in England. BB is a large co. and has the ability to buy them in quantity for a lower price while C&J or other shops can't even come close in sales.
