From what I hear, they use the cellulose in the bamboo to make a rayon-like fiber. I also hear that the process involves lots of nasty, nasty chemicals. Though there might be processes that aren't as harsh on the workers and environment, I think organic cotton is still a better choice if that's the sort of thing you care about.
