I washed all my sweaters to be put away for summer and this happens.

I did too and vacuum sealed them all, had to go out to the garage and open it back up.

What's the idea of vacuum-sealing? I'm guessing, less volume for easier storage, and maybe insect protection?

But can the long duration of extreme compression damage woollen fabrics?

Nothing more than saving space. With a wife and 2 kids my own wardrobe space has now become the 4th priority in our family.

My real camera is a DSLR which I shoot manually. Handing over control to my phone wasn't comforting either.
