Picked up a new P Johnson piece today. Trying out the latest Loro Piana 3ply blue-grey weave s120s. Open weave super light and its navy with a grey thread. Matte yet lustrious.

Fully handfinished, half lined, notch lapels, soft shoulder, welt/flap pockets, kissing buttons, button fly, 2inch cuff and the best touch...
Patrick added some camo pocket detailing as a little surprise (he knows me well)

LOVE the camo detailing.. ill try to get a better picture tomorrow

Damn nice stitching. Just another beautiful piece of work from PJ. You must know him very well by now? That jacket must look excellent on you. Very jealous.

Have you guys found that everyone comments on the pocket square?

Apparently it is a very 'North Shore' look in Sydney. Especially when you have it wofting out of your pocket like a cloud. Maybe it isn't a look for the young and wild?

Need to get some sweaters taken in - is this a relatively simple tailoring job. They aren't of great quality, but would easily last another few years.

Hey guys, I have a pair of new shoes that Im not sure about, and would really appreciate any feedback on how you would wear them.

They are Herring Baldwins (http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/product-info.php?&brandid=6&shoeid=5670) in colour 'Dark Leaf'

- they are lighter than I expected (chestnut colour, so they are reddish brown, and look a fair bit darker in person than the pics, but in the sun you can see they appear 'orangey')
- they are a bit out of my comfort zone atm (colour)
- Im only just building my wardrobe, so am basically just arranging 'smart casual' and better quality of 'casual' - tees and hoodies ruled
- trying to figure out when they would be appropriate/ look their best

So far Ive concluded:
- that are ideally for summer, during the daytime
- not suitable for casual? ...pref. smart casual (chinos>) and with a button up shirt, or suits
- lighter colour suits (although I dont think they look too bad with my dark navy suit )
- a good choice for some 'cocky shoes' for the races

Seeing those recent pics from Rob (from O&J) in his blue chinos and brown Carminas, Im thinking they would suit well in a similar situation/ style?

I think you could wear those with blue, dark brown pants (or jeans) without too much trouble. You could probably get away with wearing them with a navy suit, so long as the fabric isn't too dark and/or a formal plain weave. I wouldn't wear them with a shiny light coloured suit unless you want to look like a spiv. On the other hand you will blend in at the races. But whatever you do, for God's sake burn those slippers top left!

I find that the HC is a lot slimmer closer fitting than the O&J but then I have a HC blue check business shirt and the O&J is the white OCBD and I did go the XL in both shirts.

I put some leather conditioner and saddle soap on it which it just soaked up. Does anyone know the best way to get a shine on this?

GF you will need to let it dry awhile before applying creme/polish. Why did you use saddle soap on it when you had just conditoned it? You may need to condition again. I like the look of the patinated brass buckle too.

its a rarity in sydney anywhere! Even i cant pull it off in my day job as its too far from the norm. Ill sometimes do a white fold at work but usually reserve it for when im dressed down in separates otherwise feel naked. Ill always pocket square for non work occassions

Typically i find the lighter shade of brown the more casual and harder to pull off. Those would be fine with navy pants and a button down shirt or a pair of nice jeans (mid blues through to dark would work). Theyd work with a grey pair of pants too but nothing thats too dark/borderline black

I wouldnt wear them with a light colour suit. Light grey suits i prefer black shoes.

Fair point given the overheads mentioned and we are talking about City prices. Note however, besides measurements and fittings on site, Argy's complete all alterations off site in their warehouse in Surry Hills.

How much are Leiluna charging for repairs? If you're pleased with results and costs from your current tailor then I don't see why you would change.
Don't get me wrong though, Argy's certainly do a decent job. Andrew Wilkes is the man you need to talk to. From my conversations with Andrew, I understand that Hugo Boss and Harrold's also send their alterations over to them as well -- I've seen the backroom full of their suits. I get my tailoring done at Argy's purely for convenience sake (as I work within Chifley Tower).

Like any business overheads are important. Leiluna are in a crappy building, with an interesting lift, quite simple room where they do their alterations. Argy are in the shopping strip of Chifley. So you may have a point there.

But notwithstanding that, I've had to put up with some crap tailors with outrageous price tags. I ended up calling Hugo Boss years ago who put me in touch with Leiluna and haven't used anyone else since. I tend not to get major alterations done though, just simple stuff. I tried on a suit this week and they were suggesting some more extensive alterations and said they used argy. So I just wanted to ensure I'd get, as the french say, un bon rapport qualite-prix (good value).
