It used to be, in the old days, if you saw someone, and you didn't see it much at all, in a Double Rider leather Jacket, ripped faded blue jeans & (dirty) white sneakers.
You'd know that they knew.
They got it.
They were sussed.
Either to the Ramones or say Patti Smith. [Or later, at the worst, Sid Vicious]

Now there's double riders & ripped jeans & (clean) white sneakers every where.
But it's mainly on private school girls & people who drink coffee flavoured milk at Starbucks.
