Are people on this forum mostly hipsters?

Personally, I think of hipsterism as being based on irony. So if anyone on here were to have a style of dress with hipster elements, it would probably be cultprop and Get Smart. That being said, I also think of hipsters as trend whores, so maybe if you timetravelled Get Smart and cultprop to exactly the right moment they'd be dressed as hipsters, but that's just because their personal style was the Big Thing briefly.

$600 ersatz workwear and militaria, along with $250 Sha Na Na jeans from Japan, are pretty much made of irony at the molecular level, especially when paired with dirty Chuck Taylors.

There is a definite element of "Internetness" about what I've seen on this forum. I agree that hipster accurately profiles many here, but not necessarily in its purest form.

Perhaps "Geek Chic?"

I prefer the term "deconstructionist rocker" because I just made it up so I'm sure it hasn't been appropriated by cretins, yet.

It all derived from African kings who were calling each other 'hip' hundreds of yeara ago.

"The American words hep, hip, and hippie translate roughly into "to be aware or alive to what is going on," or an awareness especially to drugs. In Wolof, the verb "hipi" means "to open one's eyes." The American slang cat means a person, as in hep-cat or cool cat, and is similar to the Wolof kai used as a suffix following the verb"

Most "look at me" hipsters I meet just appear hip, have no idea of anything remotely cutting edge (you dont know what Stella Artois is??? youre supposed to love that ****!) and cant even hold an intelligent conversation.

Stella Artois counts as a pretentious beer? Somehow, I doubt that people in Belgium have that attitude about Miller.

Well as long as its foreign.... Stella Artois is (hilariously) marketed as a "classy" beer in America, although its more of a Trump classy one IMHO.

Ok, I can't believe my 1000th post was about some generic Belgian beer.
