Any Way to Replace the Toggles on this Coat?

I received a beautiful cashmere duffel coat as a Christmas present. While I love it, I would like to change the black toggles to dark brown wooden toggles.

Given that the toggles are attached to a strip of leather (see pic) is such an alteration even possible? If I need to go and buy brown strips of leather for the new toggles, where would I go?

Sorry dude, but I don't think you can. Looks like the leather is looped into the toggles.

A good tailor can change the leather and the toggles. You will need to supply the pieces.

Of course he can. It would just be disproportionately expensive to remove the whole loop and replace it with a loop and toggle that he had to buy himself - especially since the existing toggles look pretty good, arguably better than brown toggles would.

I wasn't clear - I meant the same - that he couldn't just replace the toggles but would have to buy new leather inserts as well. No clue where he could find those.

I have done this before by asking a leather company to make them. They made wallets, bags etc out of leather.

It was not difficult for them to do.

Gloverall sells replacements that include the cords. The wood toggles come with jute cords (£7), the horn with leather (£15).

Let me jump on board this thread, if you don't mind. My jute cord hooks have been fraying all season, and I just lost my second button. I'm sick of them, and want to switch out the whole closure (each set of toggle button and hook/clasp/loop/whatever it's called). Anyone know where I could find toggle button and hook sets sold together for a bit less than the Gloverall kits? (I turned up this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/10-Brown-Sharks-...item2560d962b9. The price is right, but my coat is black, so I'd like to avoid brown accents if I can.) (Edit: wait, those Gloverall prices are for multiple buttons. Okay, that's more reasonable...)

Heh, thought about that, but his look to be sewn into the coat, so I doubt the leather would be salvageable after he removes them.

shouldn be a problem. this leather is ver y durable. so sewing it a second time shouldnt be a problem at all. i'm sure ET will let them go for a good price.
