I am curious whether doing stationary lunges, where you step with one leg, go up and down several times, then switch legs are significantly less effective than stepping each time and alternating legs? I find the former make it easier to maintain proper form and balance and are also easier on my knees.
And, on the subject of leg exercises that don't involve massive weights, will substituting 15-20 min of very hard riding on a stationary bike once a week for lunges or leg presses help get my legs and glutes more chiseled? Or even at difficult settings is it good for cardio only?
