I wear boots too from time to time. However, I have to say, I'm going to get completely flamed, but I think it can look a little gay. Particularly with a slimmer trouser. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But to the extent that there is some form of gay style (and I think there are many different gay styles, from flamboyant Elton John Versace to more sedate) I think ankle boots can fall into that category.

Steve McQueen has one of film's most iconic looks with a sportcoat and turtleneck. A suit is not much different with a turtleneck. You mean McQueen was gay
