Evening folks,

I’ve been dotting around a bit with work and haven’t really been near any tailors to get anything commissioned.

I’m now settled again in Aberdeen (Scotland) and looking to find a relatively local tailor. I’ve been looking in Edinburgh and Glasgow predominantly, Peter Johnston is likely to be outside of my budget and I stumbled across Andrew Brooke’s website. I couldn’t find many actual reviews of his work but a lot of articles.

Has anyone else used him before? Or, have any alternative suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Drawing a blank here wasn’t a huge surprise as I don’t think we have many Scottish members

I have a phone call meeting coming up with Andrew and will be looking at potential commissions in a month or 2. I will post something when we reach a stage for pictures

You might look into Stewart Christie in Edinburgh. I visited them in 2016
I was traveling as a tourist so I did not consider trying them. Very beautiful
traditional style. My guess is that they are cheaper than the Row:

Thank you Comrade. I had seen some adverts and a few reviews for Stewart Christie and for Andrew Brookes. I’m after something a little more on the unconstructed side of tailoring and I’m not convinced from what I’ve seen that Stewart Christie are necessarily right for that. I’m going to make contact with AB first and if I’m unsure after we’ve talked I’ll reach out to SC too.

Thanks again for the response, much appreciated

You are correct. Most of the clothes shown have very British shoulders.
I do recall seeing a suit there which appeared to have much softer construction,
so they might be able to depart from their house style. Probably not worth risking
a commission unless they prove that they can make a suit to your taste.

I had a wide ranging chat with Andrew at the end of last week. Really nice guy on the phone and thinking along the same lines as me for where to go next. I’m in Edinburgh in 7 or 8 weeks time and hoping to get something on the books for whilst I’m there

Did you end up commissioning anything?

Did you end up commissioning anything?

i had a long sleeve polo made, I’m very happy with it and once this pandemic lockdown is over and I shift the associated weight I will be heading back to commission some more items
