Cary Grant was born on January 18th 1904. Today is his birthday.

Here are his hands and my feet (wearing a pair of walnut Lombards) in the forecourt of the Chinese Chinese Theater on Hollywood Blvd.

Wore my non-AE to visit my wife's folks today. These worked out really well for me. I wanted to own at least one pair of C&J shoes, and these will be it. A good last and good style. @ae_ashley just because I bought these does not mean there's no room for a cigar Leeds (eventually).

Hold my beer...

I was going to say the same thing, but then I realized if someone is holding my beer, I can't drink it. And, after being on-the-go since about 5:30 this morning, I'm really looking forward to having some beers when my core-four childhood friends come over tonight. 45 years after we all met and we still get together for weekend geek-outs and drink-outs.

It's almost to the point where I can't tell the difference between the Natural and the Brown anymore.

I have a pair, they were made around 2009 or so, as a reproduction of a 1940's AE model. It was a model commissioned by the folks at Fedora Lounge. Mine are size 9D, fit is about same as a PA, mine REALLY have only 3 wears, and are still listed on the AE B/S/T thread and I would sell them for $125 as they have almost no wear on the sole (if I remember, they are currently in their bags on top shelf of the closet)

Underwhelmed with them, are you? If I may pry, why don't you like them?

Bad pic, but navy shell First Avenue today. View attachment 1318577
Nice shoes! I'm having an existential crisis with the same pair. I can't figure out what thickness socks to wear with these things, since I have virtually no instep.

My speed hooks are almost touching, and I wanted to wear mine with dress socks, but medium weight feel the best. It's the darn principle of the whole thing that bothers me!

I only have dress socks, so that’s what I wear. My speed hooks almost touch too—I think it’s normal. What are the medium socks you use?

Flat feet and skinny ankles here.
I wear crew socks to fill the boot shafts a little better on roomier boots.
But not with FAs. Wouldn't even attempt that boot, on the 201, unless they offer a 13A or a 12.5B. Which they haven't, thus far.

It's not that I don't like them, just don't wear them. Around here they are mostly a summer shoe (in my mind at least) and just don't seem to have occasion to wear them. I bought them for a specific reason when they came out and they were perfect for that.
