Someone certainly took care of them before letting them go!

I think there's a certain truth to that about every kind of outfit. You have to feel natural and at ease or the outfit ends up wearing you.

That's probably one of the best angles to take with this. There's got to be a way to calculate the average energy spent creating a GYW shoe vs a Cole Haan, then doing a lifecycle analysis like they do for plastic bag alternatives. Market AEs as green products.

Was this just a good condition and polish?
I wasn’t sure what I was going to find underneath all the excess polish, wax and grime. I started with a good conditioning of Neatsfoot and Bick 4 followed by a stripping with acetone to restore the walnut color. Next a shoetree wrapped in damp paper towel to tighten up the vamp as it dries. Finally repeated neutral wax buff/brushing followed by Saphir Cognac cream on the captoe

Start with 60%. Apparently he has been a lot more stingy recently though according to the grapevine.
Or he is just starting with a lower list price now... I don’t think we should have a formula for what to offer. Offer what you wish he would accept and then adjust. Don’t offer more than you think it’s worth—that’s all.

I arrived late to the Macneil party. I have a pair of bourbon shell Mac’s from a fellow SF’er in 9.5E. They are a touch roomy, but so beautiful, I put an insole in and they are fine.
i just took delivery of these oxblood Macneils from the Shoebank. At 9.5D, the fit is great.
Just the right taper in the toe. I can already tell that I am going to be sad not to have more of these in the collection. So sad to see them discontinued. View attachment 1316764
@ae_ashley - please don’t let them lose the tooling to make these.

Pretty please?
