Can you guy please provide an assist on the fit of the schautal? I searched and noticed that you both have pairs and like them. Would it be reasonable to assume that they'll be lasted a bit tighter than a shell macneil? Would you size the same? Upsize a width a possibility?

That is not my experience. The shoe is very soft and supple. I wear 11.5eee and even a 12 in MacNeil. My Schautal is an 11 and I get nearly complete closure. Any larger would not work for me.

Got to ask, was there something that made the shoe worthless as a shoe? I am not sure I can get behind the multilation of a wearable shoe for such a repurpose.

The size was unknown as it had worn off so selling it would be difficult. They needed new soles and heels at this point. Finally, the leather at the heels was starting to breakdown from not using a shoe horn. All together, I did not feel it was right to flip a shoe with such needs in an unknown size. I think the buyer would be disappointed when it was received. I would personally not feel right in passing on such a pair. Given all that, I decided to repurpose them into two watch bands. One from each shoe.

Also, this was probably very fun.

Some asked for closeups.

You've seen the Broadstreets before I won't bore with them.

True. It was a fun project. I love vintage shoes and would never destroy a pair that were still useful. Sadly, they had reached the end of the road to where it was not really worth the amount of money needed to get them back in good wearable condition.

I can get behind that, I wonder if the Ashland leather boys are paying attention.

Is it the laces that make a difference?

I am going to be playing with laces for a while, now that the sales are over, why not?
