I recently bought a pair of suede Strands during the seconds sale. I finally tried them on today and find them to be pretty tight in the arch area (Actually on the outside of the foot instead of the inside. I assume that is called the waist?). I typically where a 9D and that is what I ordered for these. I have some Sanfords in a 9D that fit wonderfully. I know they are on a different last.

Will these shoes stretch any in that area or should I resize? Is it possible to have a shoe stretched in that area? I have some concerns about sizing down and going wider as the heel area fits fine to a little loose and I do not want to move to a shoe that fits well in the waist and slips in the heel.

I had a pair of shoes I sent in for recrafting, but got a call the other day that due to an "issue" they aren't able to recraft them so I get to pick out any pair I want up to $345.00. I really like the McAllister, but see it is on the same last as the Strand so this thread will also help me pick out my new pair.

Thanks.

I find that I am better off sizing down 1/2 size in the 5 last, but moving up one or even two in the width dept. I think you might find a better fit in an 8.5E or maybe even an 8EE. I know you said you don't want to do that, really, but the other option may be to find another last/shoe/company that has a shoe in a similar style that works for you.

I would also highly recommend going down a 1/2 size and up a width.
