No worries, I'll skip this one then.

If others are interested in a tobacco reverse chamois boot with plain toe, please do let me know and I'll get in touch with Moulded Shoes to see what they can accommodate.

Moulded Shoe Earth Chamois Boot GMTO Update: It looks like we are very close to being able to order. Please PM me (or respond here) if you are interested. Here's the makeup:

The boots will cost around $610 and we can ship to USA addresses at our expense. A 50% deposit is due up front. Delivery will take 6-12 months (Alden speed!).

STYLE DETAILS:

Last: New Modified (Non-Depth)
Leather: Earth Reverse Chamois
Pattern: Wing Tip Boot Eyelets: 9 Black Eyelets (5 lace and 4 speed hooks)
Welt: Storm Edging: Antique (Light)
Soles: Goodyear/Alden Lug Rubber (mini-lug)
Black Heels: Goodyear/Alden Lug Rubber Black

What does "New Modified (Non-Depth)" mean? is there an example on the Moulded Shoe websited?

Are there any true EEE wide feet folks who have success removing the cushion from E wide shoe?
I dont want to buy on this idea until I see it working. And I need to try on one of these at Moulded Shoe......

You should note that from Moulded Shoe, the only shoes they sell that are Modified Last + lug sole have a cushion insole in them. With the insert, an E width becomes EEE if you take it out. So if you wear a EEE without insert, or you are an E, and put in an orthotic, these shoes will fit you. See:

https://www.mouldedshoeny.com/shop/d7407

"THIS MODEL COMES WITH A REMOVABLE ALDEN CUSHION INSOLE (WHICH CAN BE REPLACED WITH YOUR OWN PRESCRIPTION ORTHOTIC.) SIZING INCLUDES THE REMOVABLE INSOLE. REMOVING THE INSOLE ADDS 2 WIDTHS TO THE SIZE. THEREFORE: B WIDTH BECOMES D, D BECOMES EE, E BECOMES EEE, AND EEE BECOMES EEEEE."

The simple answer is that in this make-up, there is no cushion, and therefore the "E" is a true "E" so it is not going to work for an EEE foot.

Thanks.

Next time at Moulded I will ask if they have E width shoes with cushions so I can try this approach.

Still looking for one more for the GMTO (Reverse Chamois Earth WTB).
I might be interested...can you clarify a few things though:
1. which sole did you end up going with? alden mini lug? is that the one on the coffee nubuck? also, not that it will change the make up, but the modified can also be done with double waterloc soles in addition to the lug, neocork and leather. apparently some years ago (about a decade according to moulded sole) alden changed equipment and could no longer get commando soles on modified last shoes
2. can you confirm they can do a "C" width?

We'd be happy to have you join us!

1. It is Earth Reverse Chamois. It's a potting soil color, so very dark. It's a very rich, nice color. The coffee nubuck is much lighter.
2. We are going with a mini-lug. You are right that Commando is no longer an option. The mini-lug provides a compromise between a sleek sole and grip.
3. I'll verify about the C width, but I don't see why not.

to clarify - I meant is the sole the same as the coffee nubuck sole shown on the website?

Since there are some modified lovers here - figured I'd ask. Anyone have trouble with Barrie? I'm a 12.5C on the brannock and in TB and Modified a 12C works perfect. But in Barrie the toe box just cramps my pink and whatever you call the toe next to that one...think I may need to get these stretched or go TTS in Barrie. Thoughts?

I'm in the same boat.

I don't really get the Barrie — to me it's a bit of a silly last. Very wide heel and waist that don't support your feet, but a cramped toebox with an almond shape and no curve to it. I'm not sure who exactly this is made for… triangle-shaped-feet tribes?

The only two lasts that I find sensible are Alden's Modified and Viberg's Cantilever (a really nice surprise, that one). They both provide a snug fit, arch support, and room for your toes — ie. everything a shoe should be about.

I haven't tried the Trubalance last, but I'm wondering if a B or C width might give it the same feel as the Modified?
