werd. The Beatles' first four records are unreal good. The capital records boxset of said 4 records is one of the most essential compilations.

The Lonesome Crowded West is an album with a lot of history for me. Way back in sixth grade we had to write about something that meant a lot to us. I wrote about "This Is A Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About" (I think the album came out right before school, because I remember listening to it at soccer school). Most of my paper was about how uneasy it made me feel, and how great it felt that something could touch on this. It evoked this expansive place with all this personality, but at the same time it made you feel lonely and desolate, as all this was unavailable to you. And then The Lonesome Crowded West came out. This was probably the first time I felt like something belonged to me, like I got it, and I "got" music. Really important for me. I'm pretty sure it was "my" album up until the point Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2 and Pet Sounds replaced it after incurring similar relative and emotional experiences with each.

But anyway, good choice.

Amazing list, by the way. Unknown Pleasures is definitely the most underrated album of all-time.

Yeah, dude, making me feel un-young as well.

Interstate 8 was what got me hooked on Modest Mouse (in 10th or 11th grade, I think... sigh). The cover of Sleepwalking is fantastic, as is Edit the Sad Parts. But Lonesome Crowded West is more consistent and, well, longer.
