Acceptable for new shoes?

well first off, what you need the pair for, for work? black standard pair?
you say you already have one pair of these. italian styling can be a little off/tacky sometimes and these can come close it if not already a bit tacky. i say byron or park avenue from allen edmonds? you might have to shell out a few more bucks but you will diversify your shoe wardrobe by having one italian pair and one american /english genre styling.

I would probably try to exchange them.. Are these Ferragamo Studio line shoes? I am not familiar with that model name..

I've tried Allen Edmonds and Alden. Both are too clunky..especially in 11.5B on a 5'8 person. That's why I prefer the Ferragamos. And if you look at the link below, I find it hard to believe someone would think the design was a "little off" or tacky. I already have 4 pair of Ferragamo and they're all conservatively styled.
