Does anyone find that having nothing to do at work is more tiring than having lots of work? it seems to stretch the day out and I find myself fatigued more quickly...

I shall catch up on my reading on styleforum..heheh

I've been going through precisely the same thing for the past month.

My primary project came to an end and .. they essentially wanted me to assist with manual labor as a temporary assignment until I was ready to move on (which would be in August). Uh.. no. I have since started a job search.

every day is chill at work >.> we're remodeling the mens restroom at my store(nordstrom in downtown portland) and so my job is to basically sit up stairs on the 4th floor which is generally employees only, wait for customers or persons who have to use the restroom, show them down the hall, point to it, and stand at this corner about 15-20 feet from it and make sure they don't go anywhere they're not suposed to be. i make 9.65/hr doing so. hah. my weekdays are slow as hell so I'm generally just sitting there on my sidekick. i see like 5 people per hour.

I have been doing teleworking the last 4 years.

Since April I moved to Zürich and now work at the office... and hell yeah, there are many dead hours... that I have to spend at the office...

when I was doing teleworking and there was no work to do I simple did other things, went out for a walk, etc etc...

Now I have to stay at the office.. and it is indeed very tedious

Same idea here...except I sit at the law school computer help desk and wait for people to show up with problems. Although, I only see about 5 people during the 5 hours I work. I do have my computer, but that can get pretty tiresome...I read through SF a lot...and I agree with the OP...it def draws the day out longer and I am pretty tired when I get home in the evening.

yeah but for me it's nice because since I'm still in hs, it's part time. i work saturday(every other)9 to 5, sunday 10 to 7, and tuesday/thursday 5 to 9. last week i made 350 bucks, 250 from work and 100 from house sitting. that was a good week. though i have to wait till the 5th to get my paycheck >.>

Oh yes, I feel your pain. We only have a few flights a day at Dulles, and when one of our airplanes is not here, there's nothing to do but either lay on the couch and watch CNN or sit in your cubicle and surf the web.
I'll go out for a bite to eat and that's about it.

My Friday last week was almost intolerable. For a while I thought I was the only one in the office (others taking their flex-day or on vacation). But then a more senior colleague came by and we talked about a new project so that gave me something to do. For 20 minutes at least.

Usually I look up and it's 3:30 or so. Friday I looked up and it was 1:15. Yikes.

Hopefully this week will be better.

this morning.... 3.5 hours seemed like an eternity. no customers in sight, no projects to work on, nothing to clean or organize. i was walking around as slowly as possible trying to kill time.
