Savvy, ignore the pm. This post answered my question. Is this forest and do you go with 4-ply or 6?

Replied already :)

Forest green and 4 ply! I imagine 6 ply would be a beast.

Not quite sure how big a tie knot should be (FIH is a fairly normal size knot), but 6 ply would be a tough time tying.

Appreciate the advice. I probably would have made a mistake going with the 6ply. Lookin terrific. I’m going to get a few of these. Will report back.

I would love to hear from someone who has a 6 ply and a possible side by side of 4 vs 6 knots.

The grenadines are really, really cool. I never see them out in the wild so I think it catches people's eyes without being garish like some ties do.

I'd suggest you reach out to David on this. I think he recommends a 4-fold for grenadines because the fabric is already fairly stiff when compared to a Macclesfield or other fabrics. A 6-fold may be too stiff and thick; I like "substantial" knots and always request David to make them this way. The only modification I've seen for grenadines are unlined ones.

To my knowledge, I haven't seen 6-fold grenadines from Hober, but I'm inclined to agree with the above. Unless you're getting the tie with extremely light construction, I imagine going up to the 6-fold will be too much knot. From my experience, I wouldn't mess with David's standard construction, at least with grenadines. They knot up tremendously well.

Funny you mention that. David watches this thread and I will post his reply below. The grenadines I have are superb. I am still trying to figure out what length I'll get as I was trying to measure stretch on the ties.

He makes them on grenadines and it's a $40 option, I believe.

@DCTieGuy, David emailed me after seeing my post and I figured I would post here to clear any confusion:

I saw your six fold post.

We make six folds daily. They work out very well and we adjust the knot size as needed.

The main reason for a six fold is for the feeling of extra weight which some men like.

The above is from the man himself. The feeling of a 4 fold is wonderful, I can't imagine the 6 fold feeling, then!

Which tie is this?

Bitter chocolate!

I have several 6 fold Macclesfields from Hober but none in grenadine. Good luck with your purchase and please post pics!

David was nice enough to (politely) chin check me as well haha. To be sure, I have ZERO doubt David can make an exceptional tie regardless of makeup.
I suppose my mindset was to say that his standard construction is just about perfect. I’ve no doubt he can equal it wifi a 6 fold construction.

I really like it! I wish there was one available in brown/chocolate with a hint of pink.

It looks quite a bit lighter in your picture than the one on the website. Which would you say is closest to how it looks in person? Baed on your picture I had thought it was chocolate, not bitter chocolate:
