I have the English plaid #8 and can attest that it isn't shiny. It's quite lovely, actually. (No pictures of it in action, though.)

Great choices. I have the gray/silver. It is an awesome tie. I'm fortunate somewhat in that no one I work with has enough understanding of classic menswear to even know what the phrase "wedding tie" means. :D

Just received my first Hober tie. Got the dark blue grossa as the navy was sold out, and it really looks amazing!
Note: The picture looks like royal blue, but IRL its a drop darker.

I have that in fina .. it is a fair bit lighter than I was expecting but a lovely colour nonetheless.

Discussing my first order with David! Just for a wedding I'm attending coming up way later in the year (Sep) which is really just an excuse to try this out. Do the details sound alright for a typical first time custom tie?

David can make the tie wider at the knot, so that you can achieve a nice knot without having to tie a double four-in-hand. This may also necessitate reducing the length. Something to consider, unless you simply prefer the double to the single FIH.

Today's Hober is the burgundy grenadine fina (6-fold construction). Happy Monday to all!

On some ties I like the double FIH. Is that against the rules or anything? I like how being able to (barely) see the wraparound underneath gives it a little something extra.. If done right, which can be difficult.

I wear double four-in-the-hands with a smile on my face and a song in my heart if that helps. Others are fundamentally against them.

I'm going to pull a Stitch and say I'm doing it anyways.

Stitch; wearing a tie knot commonly disapproved of, alongside a NFG smile.

Although I personally prefer the regular four-in-hand, I wouldn't say the double FIH is commonly disapproved of. On the contrary: it seems the double is "SF approved" from what I gather. :)

On a different note, anyone care to share pics of the midnight blue grenadine fina #8? I'm having a hard time waiting for the navy to be restocked... tempted to just go for the midnight blue instead.

I cannot emphasize enough the necessity of ordering fabric swatches from David. No doubts whatsoever about what you are getting and I have found pictures to be several shades darker/lighter for grenadines in particular.
