Anyone know anything about http://www.jackackroyd.co.uk ?
The rating websites and Kaspersky rate it okay, but there are suspicious signs:
- the copyright is 2017
- The website looks British but the page contains German, is captioned "ASTRA," and the billing looks Chinese: "EPL*DIZHIXUAN"
- when ordering the site is not secure (not HTTPS)
- the social media links (LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.) just go to homepages -- not to any page specific to jackackroyd.co.uk on which people could leave comments
The biggest hint of scam is the prices are wayyyyyyy too cheap -- Edward Green's "Gresham" was apparently discontinued (unlike the similar "Lambourne") but the website is selling it for $140 including shipping -- practically 1/10th of what it should be.
There are other equally ridiculous prices for John Lobb (one type -- ugly by my standards), Cheaney, Grenson and others -- at some of them discontinued models but for very improbable prices.
One possibility: it WAS legit (which would explain how it looks "curated" -- an unusual but believable selection of goods) but got hacked with the prices reduced and payment re-directed.
I am NOT recommending the site, but what do you think?
PS... at least some of the listings say "exclusive to MR PORTER" so maybe the listings were listed from there
PSS The postcode of the company is apparently defunct since 2004 (oops!) https://checkmypostcode.uk/pe12xq#.XX4JmShKjQA
