I find it hard to tell from viewing this picture on my phone, but is this more towards charcoal, or dark grey?

Here is an example of, what is to me, an obvious flannel. Even in the close-up of the JCrew or Land's End or whatever suit, it still doesn't look flannel-y.

Yeah, I think that looks strange.

A few years ago when I was looking at cloth for a navy blazer or "blazer suit," I really wanted RAF blue flannel. But then I learned flannel is never used for blazers. Sensible, given that it is a relatively fragile cloth and a blazer is supposed to descend from sport and military use. So, when I see what you posted, my mind assumes you're wearing matching trousers.

Whether "dark grey" or "charcoal" is really a matter of semantics here. The pants are dark. I think they'd look better if they were lighter.

I can't say I disagree. I came close to flannel blazer suit, but steered away myself. Wasn't sue why, but what you say makes sense. But then it's Bill, he might have run out clothes choices for blazers.

On a side note. if MR had to change his jacket due to the temps, then you must have "melted" as Manton likes to say.
