Complaints about the quality of my pics will be ignored. I urge chavs, fops, bottom feeders and n00bs to think carefully before you post in this thread. If you are wondering whether something is in good taste, it probably isn't. I encourage nay, foo, matt, dopey, gdl, vox (he is missed), concordia, t4, parker, will, baron, edmorel and some others whose names aren't occuring to me at the moment to comment with directness but without rancor. of course, there will be little need to say anything about my combos because they will always be impeccable.

A couple of questions you may want to preempt:

How is this threak different from the CBD threak?

Will you recognize something as good taste if it is not your style/taste?

If you're going to dress up as Uncle Sam, you ought to show us the hat, too.

Actually, I like that jacket quite a bit, but I've been infected with Manton's distaste for red ties, or at least fire engine red.

    1. It's a fresh start so let's not clutter it with crap. Also, this threak can be less about business.

    2. I will do my best but will likely fail from time to time.

    3. Agree with baron about the tie. I thought you only wore navy ties??

I will say this once and then I intend never to address the issue again.

This is not the fit critique thread. I don't have the time, inclination, nor a professional photographer on staff to take static poses that show my clothes without a ripple. All the pics of myself will be taken by me with a bent arm and hence the jacket askew. Please pay attention to the color and fabric combinations, which is the point.

I can assume the pantalones are not navy?

I have to work out how much pointless snark I am going to tolerate but be forewarned, the answer is, not much ...

    Manton,

    what size are those lapels?

I'm about your height but not nearly as svelte as you. Just trying to gauge what size lapels to get next.

I don't think there is anything wrong with Obama's tie in that pic but the suit is awful and even worse is the combination of that suit, that tie and white shirt.

^^^ The suit is quite nice. However, I think shirt, tie and square are all too matchy together. Not a fan of big dots on ties either.

This. Red ties aren't bad per se, but they have limited versatility. Especially bad with an olive suit. I was shocked to see this picture come up next a Google News story today.

Just awful. Isn't George de Paris supposed to be doing Obama's suits now? This one looks like it came out of the back of Obama's closet from the mid 90s.

FTR, when I say I don't like red ties, I mean I don't like true red ties. I like burgundy, wine, maroon, what have you, quite a bit.

Nice job of combining three solids (tie, jacket, square) by diversifying texture. But I wish the square were a bit different. It's in good taste, but perhaps too predictable. Also could stand to be darker and bolder to reference and balance the tie.

Your pocket square is angled the wrong way.

Don't like. Consists of only two bold, primary colors. Borders on cartoonish. Make the blue or red more subdued and you'd be okay.

    Not in good taste.

All my darker squares are silk, which I think would look stupid with a shantung tie. The square had to be linen or cotton.

No. I don't absolutely hate the red/white shirt and red tie combo, but if you are going to do that, the square needs to be something else--most certainly not a red exactly the same as your tie.

What? Some shiny silk would be to your benefit here.

Vox and I are wearing the same tie, maybe the colors in my pic are off. Anyway, it's Manton's call but can we turn this into more of a picture threak then another 1 picture/50 comments threak?
