How about a very slightly used E63 AMG? Fast enough to blow most of the suggestions already mentioned out of the water but still comfortable on the highway.
These are fast and fun.
I had a 2006 E55. Best engine ever. Worst car ever. Cheap interior bits, awful electronics (gremlins everywhere), no handling whatsoever (coming from a 540). But low-end torque like a dirt bike made it tons of fun in a straight line and contributed to lots of tickets. Maybe the E63 is better (Daimler having shed Chrysler) but I will never buy another MB.
I share your view of MB as I've had my share of gremlins on multiple cars, great engines though. BMW's have served me well, too. I've never owned an Audi but I've been thinking about them recently. I'm especially interested in seeing the new A8 when it arrives. A V10 S8 would be nice.
I think I made my decision. 09 Pontiac G8 GT. Low mileage ones fully loaded go for mid-high twenties so it's a great deal. Plus if I really wanted to make it a crazy car I can put an STS twin turbo kit on it which puts out 575hp to the wheels. Sucks Pontiac isn't around anymore but I have a G6 GT and it's a nice car. So for the combination of good looks, comfort, and price I'm going to grab a lowest mileage I can find GT and put a little money into it with some wheels and a nice sound system.
What does everyone think of Cadillac? Particularly the STS.
Aston Martin DB7
Where can you get a DB7 for $55k? I want one
I'm a HUGE Cadillac fan. have been since birth. I just let an 06 CTS go back after lease last month. I love the STS but i don't need the extra size. If i did I'd be all over it. Instead, I now drive a Mini Cooper Clubman S until the CST-V Coupe comes out this summer. Then the cooper goes to my girl and I'm back in the Saddle.
